The point that Sean is tring to make to Will is that he does not have a lot of world experience. Will has not had the oppurtunity or the resources to leave Boston. This is definetly a roadblock for Will because it holds him back from reaching his full potential.

Sean risked once, but seems reluctant to risk again.

Sean is explaining to Will that although he is smart, he still lacks real world experience and will never be able to fully understand without it. Will has been in Boston hi whole life and it is the only life he knows.

Sean tells Will that he is just a kid. Meaning, Will knows the facts through reading about them, not having experienced them. You can't understand someone's situation by just reading about what they are going through. Will puts up a barrier by involving himself with literature, instead of actually going places and learning things by seeing them. Will would rather handle whatever he is facing by absorbing all of the books he has read. He uses his intelligence to cover up his emotions by answering personal questions with arrogant answers.

Sean is trying to say that he needs experiences to really know something. You can't get the full experience from reading about it. Will's roadblocks are that he is scared to find out the real truth.

I feel that Sean is right but it is not just the little thing that make people who they are to you but whow they are as people. This is very important because it is teaching will that perfection is an ilogical way to look at the world. Sean is saying to Will that if he goes through the world looking for perfection he will be alone and sad. So the leasson here is that imperfection is perfection the little thing are what make people special to you and to the world, no matter how smart or talented you are you will have flaws. The only way you can really love anyone who loves you is the acceptance of the litte problems and not only deal with them but love them. So to summerize Sean is telling Will that perfection is in the eye of the beholder.
